Writing Text Ads
Text ads are used in many different types of internet advertising specialties and mediums. Depending on where you post your ads, you do need to manipulate words to get past spam filters. On most classified ad boards as well as link and ffa venues, you do not need to worry about spam filters as your ad never goes to someone's email inbox. It is only when posting ads to email venues you need to be concerned about filters.

Email Marketing
When writing text ads for email marketing especially, you need to be mindful of several key factors:

Spam Filters
Most of your major email services have aggressive spam filters that look for words they consider to be spam words. The word spam is one of them. Money, office or anything to do with offer and office and even backoffice are spam words. Service and free are spam words. When composing an email, for any reason, even if responding to a lead or assisting a person on your workdigital team, always run it through some type of checker.

The Email Genius is a good tool to use for this purpose. Download it to your desktop. Then, simply paste type or paste your email copy into the box and run. The tool will identify spam words for you. It also has an auto correct feature.

In fact, when I ran the above paragraph through the Email Genius program, I had many spam words. This is how EG auto corrected for me:

"Most of your major email 5ervices have aggressive Sp@m filters that look for words they consider to be Sp@m words. The word Sp@m is one of them. M0ney, 0ffice or anything to do with 0ffer and 0ffice and even back0ffice are Sp@m words. 5ervice and Fr33 are Sp@m words..."

You can see how you must manipulate some words in order to get your emails past the filters.

Important note on the Email Genius auto correct feature:
It will correct EVERYTHING. So if you have a link with the spam word in it, it will auto correct that - making your link useless. So, watch for that.

The Goal:
The purpose, or goal, of you email ad is to get that person to take action to go to your website. It is not a novel, it is not to explain everything there is to know about the opportunity, it is not even to CONVINCE anyone to buy anything at this point. The goal is to GET THAT PERSON TO YOUR WEBSITE. You want the reader to take very simple action - and click on the link or copy the link and paste it into a browser and find out more information. Your WorkDigital movie is a powerful motivator. Your website and Personal Assistant will give your website visitor more information than you could ever squeeze into an email.

With this in mind, you need two attention getters:

1. The subject line. Subject lines need to attract the readers attention and entice them to open your email. That is the first action you want the recipient of your email to do - simply open your email. An example of this might be:
Talk to No One... Watch the Movie!

2. The ad copy. The most effective ad copy is short, to the point and loaded with action words. People who read email do not have the time to read a novel. Many of them only scan through an email looking for a credit link to click on. In fact, the only thing you want to do in your email is to get that person to take action and go to your movie! The Movie will tell them everything they know much better than any email can. Your Personal Assistant will explain everything better than you ever could in an email. Here is an example:

7 streams of immediate and residual income! No selling...no need to talk to anyone... Watch the Movie! yourlink

This short sentence also works for your Classified ads as well as text messages.

You can also expand on those sentences...

7 streams of immediate and residual income!

No selling - need need to talk to prospects

Be Creative:
A key to writing effective subject lines and ad copy is being creative. Put some thought into what your business is all about, what it does, and then what you want to get across at that time. I rather like this Subject line myself:

Business in a Box

That is one that captured my interest and made me click on the link.

Text vs Html:
Many people like to use what is called html rather than text in their email ads. Html allows you to add images, color, even a backround. While you can use html to make your email ads more appealing to the eye, keep in mind that html with a lot of images and etc use a LOT of characters. Many email venues restrict the number of characters you can have in an ad. More important - many readers can choose NOT to receive html emails. So, even if your email is delivered, the reader will never be able to view it if they have their email set to not display html. Some services - like Aol even disables images and links automatically. Thus, you are wasting your time and efforts.

The best thing you can do in your email advertising is keep it text, short, and to the point. Making the link clickable is always a good idea, and that is html. Many venues, like some types of safelists for example, have an onboard editor to help you do some html. As long as you remain within your character limitations you should be ok with making your link clickable.

This is one of your WorkDigital marketing tools that helps you format your text ads. Ezy Ezine Ad Formatter. It is a Desktop download. Enter your data in the tool and it will format your email and text ads for you. Always then run the copy through the email genius afterwards to check for and correct your ad copy for email ads. For venues where you post text ads, like classified ad sites or message boards, use the normal words of course. As those are not going to a person's email box, no need to compensate for the spam filters.
