Work Digital E commerce marketing article:
Email marketing in today's internet environment.

Email Marketing
On Jan 1, 2004, the Can-Spam Compliance Act 0f 2003 became effective. After that, commercial email marketers were required, BY LAW, to comply with the requirements set forth in the law. Then came the rumor, "Email marketing is dead." And it did seem to slow for a season after that but all you have to do is check your inbox to know that email marketing is fluorishing today, including a lot of Spam, I am sorry to say. WorkDigital does not practice nor condone Spam, but we do recognize it still exists today in spite of International regulations.

Internet marketing is like fishing - you need the right equipment and the right bait. And a sense to know when a place has "fished out", to move on to a fresh location. Know also that a lot of fish will see your bait but only a few will bite.

When you go fishing, you want to have lots of bait. When marketing your program or product on the Internet, you want to have an assorted abundance of ads. And, if possible, select multiple subject lines for each ad.

Subject lines are very, very important because they, more often than not, determine whether or not someone takes the time to read your ad. One of the first considerations in developing your subject line is to be sure you are truthful. It goes without saying that this applies to the body of your ad as well. Also, you want to try and avoid words that will trigger email filters. Do not overuse capital letters. And where possible, personalize your ad by including the person's name. And constantly tweak your ads for relevant content and avoid them being deleted on sight because they have become so familiar.

One good "fishing hole" for you to acquire are your own pages with different FFA providers. A positive for these is that you can store five or six ads on your site and when it is time to do your daily advertising to the previous day's leads (people who have posted an ad on your page), you just select the ad you want and click the send button.

Another "fishing hole" that has increased in popularity since the enactment of the SPAM laws, is the safelist. You learn about the good ones through word of mouth and by trial and error. And, like the FFA pages, some of these will also allow you to store up ten ads to make it easier in your advertising daily.

There are venues for extending the reach of your ads to tens of thousands and not merely hundreds. You can use mega submitters for sending your ads to multiple safelists in one single mailing. Also, there are FFA blasters for reaching thousands, sometimes millions of FFA pages and networks all at the same time.

You should include your signature line where one is permitted. Be sure to include your domain name(s), if you have one. This will identify you to your audience as someone who is serious about promoting their online business. People are more like to listen to what you have to say. If you are a serious marketer, or you want to become one, you need to document your email marketing activities. Make a list of the venues you use to send out your ads. After you send an ad, make a notation under that venue of the date, time and specific ad that was sent. This is important. One, because some venues allow you to send ads more than once daily. Two, because you want to keep rotating your ads due to the fact that a lot of the same eyes will be seeing your ads.

You don't have to be strict in sticking to the rotation. If the time is around a holiday, you may select an ad that is more in keeping with the holiday, rather than just choosing one because it is next in rotation. Or perhaps there is something in the news that is getting everyone's attention, it would be wise to send an ad that speaks to the issue at hand, if you have such.
