Work Digital E commerce marketing article:
Email essentials - set up your marketing email accounts BEFORE you start to advertise.
Your email partner:
When you get right down to it, your email service is basically your silent partner in your e business enterprises. Your email, and the types of email services you use, are a crucial part of your online marketing and internet advertising. You probably signed up for Work Digital using your personal email service as your contact email. Your personal email is usually provided by your ISP. As you start to do your marketing, you will NOT want to use your personal email for this purpose however. There are many reasons for this:
* If you read the terms of service of your email provider, most of them limit your use of their services for personal use only. As a marketer, you are in a BUSINESS, and most email and isp service providers like Aol, Comcast, your dsl, satelite and cable companies do not allow you to use their services for commercial purposes. You will be sending, and receiving, commercial emails and ads - so you need a service which allows that kind of activity.
* The majority of those services: aol, comcast, netscape, cable and dsl providers, are not marketing friendly at all. Even if you have the program or sender in your personal White List, oftentimes the provider puts anything they perceive as Bulk - or commercial email - on their Servers' Black List. Or, they route bulk email through secondary servers which sometimes delay delivery until the email bounces back to the sender.
* Because of those policies, many marketiing venues like classified ad sites, safelists, even traffic exchanges ban aol, comcast, peoplepc, zwallet, and other similiar services. So you need a service that the advertising sites will accept: one that will receive their email without issue.
* Marketing and advertising venues will not allow you to join their venue using an email with an autoresponder. One of the quickest way you can get your account deleted and your email and ip banned is to use an autoresponder at programs which specifically do not allow them.
* As you market, you will receive commercial emails in return.
You want to start in the beginning of your advertising to have a clear seperation of personal email and your business-related email. With this in mind, you want to set up several email accounts to handle your business, as well as your advertising.
Set up a Business Contact Email
You will want an account with an autoresponder as a Contact Mail so when people see your ad and request more information, you can automatically respond to them. Use this email in your ads rather than your personal email account.
Set up several Contact Emails to use at advertising sites
Some venues you will use, like classified ad sites and safelists require a Contact Address. You must provide one from an acceptable service and not allow your email to bounce. Google Gmail is probably the most marketing friendly free services. Many programs no longer accept yahoo or hotmail. Remember, do NOT set up autoresponders on these email accounts.
Set up several List or Subscription Email accounts
Once you start using FFA sites especially, you will receive a lot of email, so obtain at least one or two free email accounts to use for them. Safelists always require both a Contact as well as a List or subscription email. If you are only going to join a handful of safelists, G-mail is usually a good choice. Once you get into mass safelist marketing, you will want to consider obtaining what is called pop3 commercial email services which are compatible with Auto Validation and box cleaning softwares. Whether you are using a free email service, like Gmail, or a pop3 email service, as in your Contact Email, do NOT set up an autoresponder.
In summary:
* Set up a Business Contact Address
* Set up several Contact Addresses
* Set up several Subscription Addresses
By doing this now, you get your email partners in place and working for you - not against you. Once you have your email accounts set up, you are ready to start marketing online! So, let's review some places to get started.
